Pre-Kindergarten

The Pasadena Unified School District offers developmentally appropriate programs for pre-school children whose families qualify based on family size and income through the State’s Universal Preschool program.

Elementary Schools

The 17 Kindergarten-5th grade schools in PUSD inspire students to become confident learners and able explorers who are at home in the world. Developing an ethos of respect is at the core of PUSD elementary school instruction, and students learn to take pride in themselves and their work, while being enriched by the cultural diversity of Altadena, Pasadena, Sierra Madre, and the Southern California region.  Explore our Elementary Education department page to learn more.

K-8 Schools

Three PUSD schools offer instruction for Kindergarten-eighth grade students on the same campus, although students in the middle school grades (6-8) are clustered in areas separate from pre-K-fifth grade in order to provide a full, rigorous middle school program. 

Middle Schools

A rigorous, developmentally-appropriate middle school program for students in grades six to eight is offered at five comprehensive campuses.  Our middle school department ensures a high-quality, equitable academic experience for all students.

High Schools

Four comprehensive senior high schools in PUSD offer a college and career preparatory program, robust visual and performing arts programs, and competitive athletics for students in grades 9 – 12.

Alternative Schools

Two campuses offer alternative programs for students who do not perform optimally in a traditional high school environment. PUSD high school students are eligible to attend one of the alternative campuses if they have had behavioral, attendance, or substance abuse problems at the comprehensive high schools, are awaiting expulsion procedures, or at the request of the student or the parent/guardian.
